WILLY WONKA & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

BERKELEY PLAYHOUSE

In the summer of 2012 at the Berkeley Playhouse, Vernon along with an exciting cast of youth and adult actors, aerial acrobats, and bungee jumping Oompa Loompas helped Roald Dahl’s magical story Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory come to life on stage!  It was a record-breaking production.  Above are some of the lively pictures from the show and below some of the reviews!

"Bush’s spirited and confident performance steals the show. Reminiscent of Johnny Depp’s creepily friendly rendition of Wonka in Tim Burton’s 2005 adaptation, Bush is intriguingly nonchalant...The mature complexity that Bush displays will interest adult audience members, yet his carefree attitude will draw in children more than Depp’s unsettling rendition."

"He feels at home in the role of the whimsical chocolatier who's looking for a bright and honest young soul to take over his magical confectionary."

"And Vernon Bush is the ultimate Willy Wonka — exuberant, limber and full of affection, not to mention his stunning voice, which is the first sound heard when the lights come up on the opening scene."
